Breckerville is a unique jazz sextet formed in 2012 which is dedicated to celebrating the music of The Brecker Brothers, trumpeter Randy and the late great saxophonist Michael and the other "super groups" they pioneered. The band consists of six veteran players Bob Ferguson trumpet & flugelhorn, Carl Cox tenor saxophone, Vic Stevens drums, Andy Lalasis acoustic & electric bass, Matthew McCloskey guitar, Demetrios Pappas keyboards, (Dave Hartl - emeritus member). Breckerville performs compositions by Randy & Michael Brecker, Joey Calderazzo, Don Grolinik, Warren Bernhardt, Pat Metheny and Mike Mainieri of Steps Ahead and other composers of the era. The incredible talent and versatility of the musicians of the Jazz Rock Fusion era in American Music collectively transcended the boundaries of contemporary Jazz forever. Breckerville continues to push the musical boundaries by embellishing on the complex improvisational, rhythmic, and harmonic writings through jazz educational events and live performances.

Brief Timeline of the Jazz Rock Fusion Era:
The Brecker Brothers Band was formed in the early 1970's. Randy Brecker added his brother Michael to secure the bands first record deal, Randy and Michael performed sensationally together, and collaborated on a huge repertoire of music until Michael Brecker left the music world, after a heroic battle with Leukemia in 2007.
Steps Ahead was formed in 1979 by vibraphonist & composer Mike Mainieri to perform at the Brecker's club "Seventh Avenue South" located in the West Village of NYC. (The picture above shows the building today). The orginal lineup was Mike Mainieri-vibes, Michael Brecker-tenor saxophone, Steve Gadd-drums, Don Grolnick-piano, Eddie Gomez-bass, and Kazumi Watanabe -guitar.
Steps Ahead led by Mike Mainieri and The Brecker Brothers Tribute under the leadership of Randy Brecker continue to perform worldwide, and the bands have featured a world-class line up of musicians including: Peter Erskine, Rodney Holmes,Tony Bozzio, Richie Morales, Dennis Chambers, Steve Smith, Dave Weckl (Drums) George Whitty, Jim Beard, Warren Bernhardt, Joey Calderazzo, Don Grolnik, Elaine Elias (Piano) Mike Stern, Steve Kahn, Dean Brown (Guitar) Neil Jason, James Genus, Will Lee, Richard Bona, Victor Bailey,Tony Levin (bass).
